Supporting Children's Mental Health

Introducing our new Education Mental Health Practitioner

We are pleased to welcome Mia Pang to Walliscote Primary School as our new allocated Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP).

Mia will be coming from the North Somerset Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to work at our school on Thursdays. Her role will compliment the existing mental health and wellbeing provision already in place at the school.

Mia will be working alongside our Wellbeing Lead and Pastoral Care Lead, Mr Joe Almond, to support a 'whole school approach' to mental health and wellbeing. This may include delivering workshops and assemblies to students and/or parents and carers on wellbeing-related topics, such as friendships, transitions and emotion regulation.

Mia can also offer direct support to students with mild-to-moderate mental health needs (for example fears/worries/anxiety, or common behaviour concerns) through evidence-based 1-to-1 or group sessions. This may involve working with just the students, and/or with their parents and carers as well.
